In 1912, a woman by the name of Juliette Gordon-Low founded the first Girl Scout troop in Savannah, Georgia. Since then, Girl Scouts has become one of the world's most popular organizations dedicated solely to girls, that provides an accepting and nurturing environment to help them build character and skills for success in the future. In honor of the Girl Scouts 100th anniversary, troops from tri-state area celebrated the milestone in a BIG way. With a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline and the statue of liberty across the horizon, the B.I.G. (Believe In Girls) celebration set up camp at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. Troops and their families gathered for a full day of activities, live entertainment, arts and crafts, and service projects.

The Girl Scout Councils of New Jersey partnered with the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) in effort to restore Liberty State Park for their service project. NWF hosted a restoration and planting project for girls and their families to create new areas for wildlife habitat and beautify the park. Throughout the day, over 2,000 girl scouts and parents planted over 400 native plants and shrubs.

Tents filled with free goodies and activities were set up around the festival. Girls had different options of fun photo-ops, cookie decorating, soccer clinics, bracelet-making, rock climbing, arts and crafts with Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts stores, and girls could even participate in a Flash Mob and take Zumba lessons!

Most of the girl scouts in attendance would admit that the most exciting part of the day happened over at the big main stage, where Grammy-nominated artist Sara Bareilles, Jonas Brother, Joe Jonas, and X Factor's young and bubbly Rachel Crow took the stage to perform for the celebration.

"So where are my cookies?" Joe Jonas joked as he hit the stage performing hits from his solo album, Fast Life.

"You guys are seriously the best crowd I've ever had!" Sara Bareilles gushed to the audience as they squealed and sang along to her hit songs like "King Of Anything" and "Love Song."

The night concluded with a lot of happy, young Girl Scouts watching fireworks illuminate the New York Harbor.
