Andrew Garfield's 'Amazing Spider-Man' Sequel Wish: 'I Hope They'd Let Me Do It'

Will He Return For 'Spider-Man 2'?

If the contracts handed out to "Avengers" stars by Marvel and Disney are any indication -- Mark Ruffalo, for instance, signed a six-film deal to play Hulk -- the chances are good that Andrew Garfield is locked in for a number of "Spider-Man" films. At the very least, he's likely onboard for the sequel -- which already has a release date on the calendar and a screenplay in the works. Still, that doesn't mean Garfield is counting any chickens just yet, at least judging from an answer he gave THR.com during a presentation for the Worldwide Orphans Foundation on Tuesday.

"If we do one, I hope I can do it," Garfield said. "I hope they'd let me do it. I hope so."

Considering Sony co-chairwoman Amy Pascal noted that Garfield was the perfect Peter Parker when he was hired by the studio in 2010, here's guessing they'll "let" him do it again.

While Garfield appears to be a mortal lock to return to the franchise, the same cannot be said of director Marc Webb. In an interview with Huffington Post Entertainment, Webb said he would like some time off before returning to the world of Spider-Man.

"People ask about the sequel and I'm like, 'Well, you know, I don't know if I want to do that, but I love the process,'" he said. "I love Andrew and Emma. But it's like asking someone who has just given birth, 'Do you want to get pregnant again?'"
