Tim Pawlenty On Mitt Romney VP Slot: Look Elsewhere (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON -- Tim Pawlenty has once again asserted that he is not interested in being Mitt Romney's vice president.

In an interview with CBS' "Face The Nation," Pawlenty revealed that he told Romney's campaign to look at other choices.

“I indicated that I think I can best serve Gov. Romney in other ways, in particular as a volunteer and surrogate speaker in places where he can't go,” Pawlenty said. "I've encouraged people who've asked this question to, in the campaign, to look at other prospects.”

Back in February, Pawlenty made it clear that VP was not a position of interest. In an interview with Fox & Friends, he noted that he had effectively taken himself off the list.

"I'm honored to help Governor Romney as a volunteer and to help him in any way I can. ... He'll be able to pick from a lot of other people for VP," Pawlenty told host Gretchen Carlson.

Pawlenty's own presidential ambitions came to an end when he dropped out of the race in mid-August. The former governor finished a disappointing third place in the Iowa straw poll, remarking that he wished "it would have been different."
