Dan Savage Reacts To Gay Conservative Group Endorsing Romney With Explicit Tweet

Dan Savage Calls Conservative Gay Group 'F—gots' For Romney Endorsement

When Dan Savage, the gay-rights advocate and sex columnist known for his brand of straight talk, is angry, don't expect him to hide it.

On Wednesday, Savage took to Twitter to attack a prominent conservative gay group for their "enthusiastic" endorsement of Mitt Romney -- a candidate who doesn't support same-sex marriage and just last weekend told the Faith and Freedom Coilition that children are better off with hetereosexual parents.

"The GOP's house faggots grab their ankles, right on cue," Savage tweeted, linking to an article on the endorsement.

GOP Proud, a national gay-rights group, praised Romney's economic experience in a press release, and promised to commit "significant resources" to elect the former Massachusetts governor. “Most gay Americans – like their straight counterparts – are not better off than they were 4 years ago,” said Jimmy LaSalvia, GOProud Executive Director. “The truth is that gay people are living in the disastrous failed Obama economy too.”

GOProud co-founder Chris Barron responded to Savage on his personal website.

"After GOProud announced its endorsement of Mitt Romney today, Dan Savage of “It Gets Better” fame, took to twitter to refer to gay conservatives as “house faggots,” Barron wrote. "Apparently, faggot is an entirely appropriate slur as long as Dan Savage is slinging it and gay people who you don’t agree with are on the receiving end."
