Z-Burger To Host Eating Contest, Looks For Particpants

Wanted: Burger-Eating Contest Participants

WASHINGTON -- Like burgers? Want to win cash and prizes? Listen up: Z-Burger has announced its fourth annual Independence Burger Eating Contest and is looking for contestants.

On July 3 at noon, beef lovers at Z-Burger's Tenleytown location will throw down for cash prizes, gift cards and, of course, bragging rights.

The burger restaurant -- which plans to open a new location in Columbia Heights in addition to its Tenleytown and Glover Park spots -- is seeking a wide range of competitive eaters, from "local amateurs to international professionals," according to a media advisory.

Z-Burger assures potential contenders that "serious awards await serious eaters" and suggests that a respectable finish might be 17 burgers in 10 minutes.

The first-prize eater will win $1,000 cash and $1,000 in Z-Burger tokens. Second prize will be $750 cash and $750 in tokens and third will be $500 cash and $500 in tokens. Z-Burger is also giving the winner the option of donating their edible winnings to a charity of their choice.

Those not up to the challenge can still enjoy one free burger and other food samples as they watch the pros compete.
