The creator of P90X is leading two free workouts this evening at Yards Park. P90X is the workout regime that's supposed to make you super hot and ripped but not weirdly roidy. 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., all ages, no cover, waiver forms must be submitted at least 30 minute prior to the session

2. Justin Halpern At Sixth and I
The author of the Twitter feed @shitmydadsays has a new book, "I Suck At Girls." He'll be charming the crowd with tales of failed and not completely failed romances. 7 p.m., all ages, $10 or $17 for a ticket and book

3. Rodney Richardson Trio With Lena Seikaly At Atlas
This Jazz in the 'Hoods concert is also part of the DC Jazz Festival, which runs through June 10. The evening promises to deliver mellow, comfortable jazz that appealing to anyone looking to be in love. 8 p.m., all ages, $15 to $25

4. Burning Man For Beginners At Artomatic
This is fantastic for many reasons. Or awful. We're not sure but it sounds informative, fun and gives us an excuse to check out Artomatic. 7 p.m., all ages, no cover

5. Danger At Rock N Roll Hotel
Your middle of the week may need a little sonic drama. Let the French electronic artist Danger provide your soundtrack. If you want your evening to sound like the intro to a "Bourne" film, head to H Street. 11 p.m., 21+, $14

Matt Skiba and the Sekrets, Smoking Popes

Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba has a new band. With other members from AFI and My Chemical Romance, this side project isn't too much different than AK3. More polished, stadium friendly athems, which isn't a bad thing. Openers Smoking Popes continue to garner the lip service they deserve for creating the template for acts like Alkaline Trio. The foursome still delivers power pop songs that woud make Cheap Trick proud.

at Sixth and I
One of the funniest, ballsiest comic for the last 50 years is celebrating the release of her new book, "I Hate Everyone...Starting with Me." TIME columnist Joel Stein will interview Rivers in front of a packed house. While this is billed as an Q&A, any fan of Rivers knows that she'll talk about whatever she wants, whenever she wants. Stand up without prepared jokes.
