Jazz saxophonist Sonny Stitt passed away in D.C. 30 years ago. His influence can still be heard today. A peer of Billy Eckstine, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey, Thelonious Monk and more, Stitt is an overlooked figure. Presented in conjunction with the DC Jazz Festival, this salon will give insight into the man and his music. 7 p.m., all ages, no cover

Story League at Arts Club of Washington
Story League events are usually held at Busboys and Poets, ticketed and tend to sell out. This special event is at a different venue, free and will features a "Best Of" collection of past performers. An excellent way to introduce yourself to D.C.'s story telling scene.

Wednesday, June 6
Burning Man for Beginners at Artomatic
This is fantastic for a many reasons. Or awful. We're not sure but it sounds informative, fun and gives us an excuse to check out Artomatic.

Thursday, June 7
Greg Proops at DC Improv
This "Smartest Man In The World" taping will be a lesson for comics and podcasters alike. Proops fills an hour plus of original material each week. He's the Satchel Paige of comedy podcasts. Though he may not be the most well known at the craft, his honesty, originality and fun can be heard in each episode.

Sri Lankan Supper Club at Montserrat House
A large variety of home made cuisine from S.H. Fernando Jr., author of "Rice & Curry: Sri Lankan Home Cooking." A very delicious thing one can do this Friday.

Saturday, June 9
Seersucker Social
