Art After Dark At Art Museum of the Americas: HuffPost DC Top 5 For May 24, 2012

TOP 5 FOR THURSDAY, MAY 24

1. Art After Dark At Art Museum of the Americas
After hours admission to the museum with an open bar? Yep. This is good. The tradition continues with the theme of "Apocalypse." We're not sure what that means but we do know all the factors that helped make it a sold-out success last year will be back. 8 p.m., 21+, $40

2. "Nashville" At Portrait Gallery
One of the late, great director Robert Altman's finest films, "Nashville" is a truly American movie. Set in and about the country and gospel scenes of Music City USA, "Nashville" ambitiously weaves multiple story lines about ambition culminating at a Replacement party candidate's rally. 6:30 p.m., all ages, no cover

3. America Hearts At Black Cat
This D.C. band plays the kind of heartbreaking indie folk pop that will inevitably be co-opted by a Zooey Deschanel sitcom. Don't believe us? Watch this adorable video promoting the show. This concert celebrates the release of the bands newest single about love gone awry. 8 p.m., all ages, $8

4. DuClaw Brewing Company Kick-Off Party At The Big Hunt
DuClaw is coming to D.C. They're bringing samples of their Hellrazer IPA, EuForia Toffee Nut Brown Ale, Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Flame, Bourbon Barrel Aged X-1 Imperial Chocolate Rye Porter, Repent Belgian Pent and schwag for their big night. 6 p.m., 21+, no cover

5. Break The Cycle Charity Happy Hour At Sign Of The Whale
If a new brew in town doesn't excite you but the idea of drinking is still appealing, consider heading to this M Street NW bar for a happy hour benefitting Break the Cycle, the leading, national nonprofit organization addressing teen dating violence. 6 p.m., 21+, $5 donation

TOP 5 FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS

Friday, May 25
Italian Feast at Undisclosed Location
The good folks at Feastly turn a night of dining into an adventure. This event features Grace, a Food Network and Washington Post featured chef, teaching diner-goers how to make pasta. The event will be in Mount Pleasant but the address will only be revealed upon signing up.

Saturday, May 26
Sonic Circuits at Millenium Stage
John Cage will be interpreted from musicians using new technology. This is what the future will sound like.

Sunday, May 27
"The Music Man" at Arena Stage
A classic musical at one of D.C.'s newest, largest, neatest places for the arts. Good for residents and tourists alike for a holiday weekend adventure.

Monday, May 28
35th Annual Memorial Day Jazz Festival at Waterfront Park
Not sure what to do with the visitors camping in your place? How about an all-day jazz event? Did we mention that it's free?

Tuesday, May 29
The Dandy Warhols at 9:30
Hacks or originators, it doesn't matter. Courtney Taylor-Taylor has a well-tuned pop ear, an appreciation for David Bowie and, as viewers of "Dig!" know, not an idiot. His tunes hold up and while the new stuff isn't as ambitious as their monumental concept album "Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia," the new laid back stuff sounds a little more stripped down, older, more mature.
