Hacks or originators, it doesn't matter. Courtney Taylor-Taylor has a well-tuned pop ear, an appreciation for David Bowie and, as viewers of "Dig!" know, not an idiot. His tunes hold up and while the new stuff isn't as ambitious as their monumental concept album "Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia," the new laid back stuff sounds a little more stripped down, older, more mature.
