Jane Goodall Rose Parade: World Famous Primatologist Selected As Grand Marshal Of Rose Parade 2013

Jane Goodall To Lead The Floats As Rose Parade Grand Marshal

Jane Goodall, the highly acclaimed humanitarian and primatologist, will be Grand Marshal of the 124th Tournament of Roses Parade.

In an announcement Wednesday morning, the 78-year-old referenced her well-respected work in Tanzania's Gombe Stream National Park by making chimpanzee noises for audience members. Goodall was surprised when asked to act as the Rose Parade Grand Marshal as life in Africa is "kind of different" than that in Pasadena, reports AP. Watch a live-stream of the event above.

Actor, activist and Dancing With The Stars winner, J.R. Martinez held the honor in 2012.

Most recently, Goodall has joined forces with Hollywood heavy-weights for the Disneynature film "Chimpanzee." The documentary follows a young chimp named Oscar and his "adoptive father" Freddy on their adventures in the Tai Forest National Park. Through the end of this week, Disney will donate 20 cents to the Jane Goodall Institute for every ticket sold.
