Nathan and Allison Tolman, Lost Utah Teen Hikers, Rescued After Singing To Crew

Two Utah teens were rescued Friday after becoming lost during a short hiking expedition.

Siblings Nathan, 18, and Allison Tolman,16, went on a hike to Lone Peak on Thursday, April 5, when they became disoriented and eventually wandered off the hiking trail, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Mom Carolyn Tolman placed a call to police at around 10 p.m. after her children phoned her to say they were lost. As temperatures continued to drop, search and rescue crews trekked the mountain, eventually finding the duo at 3:20 a.m. Friday morning.

Officials said the teens even helped with their own rescue efforts.

"They were trying to sing to help us find them," Greg Davis, a rescue worker, told the Deseret News.

Nathan and Allison were cold and wet but were able to walk down the mountain with the crew, ABC 4 reports.

And while the pair were concerned about finishing homework, their father had other plans -- at least for the time being.

"We're going to take them home, put them in a warm shower and a warm bed," Derek Tolman told the station.
