Max Kay: Groom Sentenced To Six Years For Wedding Arson

Groom Sentenced After Setting Fire To His Own Wedding

"Happily ever after" is being put on hold for Liverpool, England groom Max Kay, who was recently sentenced to six years in prison after deliberately setting fire to his own wedding venue in June 2011.

Kay admitted in court to starting the blaze after his wedding reception at Peckforton Castle Hotel. According to hotel staff, Kay was drunk when he began arguing over the bar tab and wedding bill and allegedly said, "Nobody crosses Max."

The BBC reports that the angry groom went up to the drawing room, which had been set up for another couple's wedding the next day, and set the curtains on fire with a cigarette lighter.
