YouTube's 'Next Cause' Summit To Help 20 Nonprofits Rev Up Video Use (SLIDESHOW)

SLIDESHOW: 20 Nonprofits About To Get Huge Online Video Makeover

A host of nonprofits are about to spread their good works through one of the most viral channels that exists.

On Wednesday, YouTube announced that 20 nonprofit applications had been accepted for its first "Next Cause" day-long summit in San Francisco, Calif., -- an event designed to help promote organizations' missions, get one-on-one consulting help and receive community engagement tips.

Nonprofits advocating for causes ranging from children's disease research to global poverty will attend, according to YouTube's blog.

"We were honored, inspired and deeply moved by many of the applications we received," the blog stated. "We are proud to introduce you to some members of the first class of YouTube Next Cause: 20 organizations whove demonstrated passion and huge potential for using YouTube to further their causes."

Last month, YouTube announced and opened its doors to the applications for its "Next Cause" -- a series that has followed other popular YouTube "Next" ideas like "Next Chef", "Next Trainer", and "NextUp", which took video applications to help the find the best undiscovered chefs, trainers and rising stars.
