Last night, Hammerstein Ballroom was filled with a rosy glow as "The Heart Truth" celebrated 10 years of commitment to women's heart health. Year after year, the Red Dress show has been one of the most popular attractions of New York Fashion Week with its celebrity filled lineup, dressed by the industries most talented designers.
Actress Phylicia Rashad looked flawless as she sat across from me in front row. Rebecca Romijn opened the show in a beautiful Marchesa gown. Legendary supermodel Christie Brinkley, whose mother has heart disease, tumbled a bit in Pamella Roland. Ever the professional, she regained her step and sauntered down the runway. Glamour Editor Cindi Leive sparkled in a Jason Wu frock and represented for the fashionistas. Matchmaker Patti Stanger rocked the runway to The Cardigans "LoveFool" (Yes, how fabulously appropriate) in a gorgeous Marc Bouwer creation. Actress Jenna Elfman looked every bit the runway model with her long and lean silhouette in Alberta Ferretti. Actresses Minka Kelly and Giselle Blondet tied for best dresses, respectively in a dazzling long sequined DVF (Diane, you are a genius for this) and a gorgeous bow adorned Oscar de la Renta. Blendel proved to be a runway fav with her jubilant walk and pose.
Undoubtably, the star of the show was legendary singer Chaka Khan, dressed to the nines in Project Runway alum, Chris March. In true form, she ripped down the runway as her hit song "I'm Every Woman" played. I even got a wave as she cascaded down the catwalk. A radiant Gloria Estefan closed the show wearing Narciso Rodriguez. Every dress featured that night was a different shade of red, a true metaphor of how women everywhere are united by this amazing cause.
