'The Hunger Games' Star Jennifer Lawrence Admits She Took Three Days To Say Yes To Role Of Katniss

Jennifer Lawrence's 'Hunger Games' Secret

Katniss may have jumped straight into the arena to fight to the death, but Jennifer Lawrence spent three days deciding whether she wanted to be part of the 'Hunger Games' franchise at all.

"I was so in love with the books and the script, and suddenly the decision was right in my face," Lawrence told The Hollywood Reporter. "And the size of the decision was terrifying."

But after three days of second guessing herself, it was Lawrence's mother who talked her into stepping into the post-apocalyptic world of Panem.

"I called my mom and she called me a hypocrite, because when I was doing indie movies and everyone was asking why I didn't do studio movies, I said, 'The size of the movie doesn't matter.' And she said, 'Here's a movie you love and you were thinking of turning it down because of its size.'" Lawrence said. "I thought, 'I don't want to miss out because I'm scared. Me being scared, I never want that to stop me from doing something.' But I knew in my heart that I wanted it -- it was about working out all the fears."

Whether she regrets the decision or not, Lawrence is in it for the long haul.

"I can't wait to get back," Lawrence told EW of beginning training for the second movie, "Catching Fire," in July. "Though I don't know if that's because I think we might shoot in Hawaii."

"The Hunger Games" hits theaters on March 23. For more, click over to The Hollywood Reporter.
