Vanessa Bryant Being Recruited For 'Basketball Wives': Report

'Basketball Wives' Is Reportedly Courting Vanessa Bryant

UPDATE: The Insider reports that Vanessa Bryant will not be joining the cast of "Basketball Wives." According to the report, a source with knowledge of the situation said, "No disrespect to the other ladies but 'Basketball Wives' just isn't Vanessa's style."

Scoring $75 million in a divorce settlement may be only the first act of Vanessa Bryant's post-Kobe career.

Bryant is reportedly being recruited to join VH1's hit reality show "Basketball Wives LA," according to TMZ. The show's producers are allegedly preparing to make Bryant "an extremely lucrative pitch" that would make her a recurring, possibly lead character on the show. In the wake of such a high-profile divorce, landing Bryant could prove to be ratings gold for VH1.

The Bryants' up-and-down marriage was filled with enough twists and turns to make its own reality show. When NBA star Kobe was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a Colorado hotel room in 2003, he admitted to having a consensual one-night stand and reportedly bought Vanessa a $4 million diamond ring to apologize. She stood by her man and played a role in Kobe's image rehabilitation, meeting him in the players' tunnel at halftime of Lakers' games, sometimes with the couple's daughters, where cameras could catch the family-friendly moments.

A part on "Basketball Wives" would come with potential for awkwardness, and drama, for Bryant. Several of Kobe's Laker teammates' current or former significant others are featured on the show, including Gloria Govan, the ex-girlfriend of Lakers' forward Matt Barnes, and Kimsha Artest, Metta World Peace's life partner.
