Lonny Magazine No Longer Publishing

Lonny Bites The Dust?

We're sad to hear it, but according to this WWD report today Lonny, the online shelter publication that stood out as a shining beacon during the publishing world bloodbath in 2008-2009, is halting all operations. Lonny founder Michelle Adams, a former Domino mag alumnus, declined to comment for the article, which cites from a source that Lonny's sudden downward spiral could be linked to a lack in funding or "cash infusion."

Either way, we've been fans of Lonny since its inception. And it's thanks to Lonny that the great ideas and aesthetics of everyone's beloved Domino was able to live on inside an accessible publication.

However, we're seeing this as a sign that the thunder clouds looming over the publishing world haven't exactly parted completely, although the same WWD article reports that shelter magazines are making a strong comeback. We're holding our breaths and hoping that Lonny will do the same in the near future.

Are you surprised that Lonny is struggling? Let us know in comments.
