Miami-Dade Mom Kenia Quiala Bosque Accused Of Trying To Sell Her Baby For $7,000

Mom Allegedly Tried To Sell Baby For $7,000

A Miami-area mom attempted to sell her own eight-month-old son for $7,000 to a male friend in the Florida Keys, according to police.

Kenia Quiala Bosque, 30, was arrested Sunday and booked into Miami-Dade County Jail on $5,000 bond following an investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

FDLE Special Agent Bob Breeden said a man Bosque had known from previously living in Monroe County called MCSO to report Bosque had offered to sell him the baby.

"She told him that she trusted him not to hurt her child," said Breeden, who confirmed financial distress was behind Bosque's plan to sell her baby.

After MCSO contacted FDLE with the tip, investigators arranged to send an undercover agent. Though Bosque failed to show up for the meet, detectives said they had compiled enough evidence to make the arrest and took Bosque into custody at her home on Sunday on an adoption violation charge.

"We are just so glad we were able to obtain this information in time to intervene before anything could happen to endanger this child," said Monroe County Sheriff Bob Peryam in a statement.

The incident was not Bosque's first brush with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. She was previously arrested in November of 2010 for attempting to steal copper wire from an old shrimp farm on Summerland Key.

Officials say her children are in the custody of relatives.
