Glendale Man Wins $1 Million Lottery Ticket!!

A man named Zare S. walked into Ralph's grocery store in Glendale Tuesday and left with one million dollars. He had won the California Lottery's 10th instant $1 million prize since the $250 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers were launched in September.

According to the California Lottery, when Zare scratched his ticket and realized how much he had won, "his heart started beating so fast he thought it was going to jump through his chest. When asked what he would like to do with his winnings, Zare said he would like to buy a house and a car, preferably a BMW."

The Glendale Ralph's will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the million-dollar ticket, reports the Daily News.

The California Lottery was created in 1984 to raise money for California's public schools. Its website explains that, "For every dollar spent on Lottery products, 94 cents is returned to the community in the form of player prizes, retailer compensation and contributions to education."

There are still.. 21 instant $1 million prizes to be won out of the more than 10.6 million available prizes $250 Million Cash Spectacular offers. Since the ticket first went on sale on September 30, more than 147,000 tickets purchased by California Lottery players have won a minimum of $100 or more. Of the total winning numbers, eight tickets have won $50,000 prizes and 16 tickets have claimed $10,000 prizes.

The Lottery website adds, "Overall game odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.50. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1.2 million."
