Chicago Winter Storm Expected Tuesday

Storm Will Likely Bring Rain, Snow To Chicago Tuesday

After a pretty mild November, wintery weather is expected to make its way into Chicago this week.

On Monday, temperatures will stay in the high 30s and lower 40s and there is a slight chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service. Monday night, however, wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour are expected and the high winds will continue into Tuesday.

Rain is likely Tuesday morning, according to NWS, but as the wind picks up, snow might come with it. A period of moderate to heavy snow could make its way into the area Tuesday afternoon and evening, which could lead to some accumulation and dangerous travel conditions. Wind gusts of 45 miles per hour and high waves on Lake Michigan are also expected.

The sun is expected to make an appearance Wednesday, NBC Chicago reports, but the cold temperatures remain -- and will likely stick around for the next few months.

Temperatures in the 30s and light snow flurries are also expected later this week.
