David Letterman To Gayle King: 'Surprised' To Know Charlie Rose Was Still Alive (VIDEO)

David Letterman Chats With Gayle King, Impersonates Charlie Rose

Gayle King appeared on "Late Night With David Letterman" Monday night to chat about her new gig hosting CBS' morning show.

In addition to King, the network announced the addition of Charlie Rose to its morning show lineup.

When Letterman brought up Rose, who he referred to as a "man about town," King made her loyalty quite clear. "Don't talk about my lover, Dave," King said.

She later asked Letterman how he truly reacted to the announcement that she and Rose would be joining the CBS news team. Speaking about Rose, Letterman told her he was "surprised to know that he was still alive."

Letterman said that he was "hung up" on the fact that he found Rose a "kind of a late night...guy." He then impersonated Rose grumpily asking for a danish and demanding donuts on a morning show set.

King continuously defended her new colleague, calling him an "icon" and a "legend."
