Sara Glashagel, Antioch High School Teacher, Charged With Changing Students' Grades

Report: Teacher Changed Grades Of High School Athletes

An Antioch High School teacher has been charged with computer tampering after allegedly changing the grades of 64 suburban Chicago students.

Sara Glashagel, 27, an Elk Grove Village resident and a teacher at the high school, turned herself into police Friday amid an investigation into a Sept. 28 report that student grades had been changed in the school computer system, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. She was charged with computer tampering, a class A misdemeanor and was freed on $1,000 bond.

Of the 64 students with changed grades, 41 were players on the school football team, where Glashagel's husband, Brian Glashagel, is the varsity coach, according to NBC Chicago. The investigation found that 240 grades were inflated on five occasions during a week in September, and some sources are reporting that Glashagel altered the grades of student athletes risking academic ineligibility, an allegation the school denies.

School officials and Brian Glashagel told the Daily Herald they believe Sara Glashagel acted independently.

"I am assuring everyone beyond my word that I had no knowledge of this taking place in the past," Brian Glashagel told the newspaper. "I have offered to police to take a polygraph, and I am still offering that up today."
