'Notes From A Kitchen' Redefines The Cookbook (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: A Genre-Bending Cookbook

Notes From a Kitchen (available December 8) is not a normal cookbook. Instead of a recipe-focused cookbook, there are interviews with some of the country's most famous chefs, over 1000 photographs, edited film sequences, private journal pages and original artwork. Oh, and did we mention it is 900 pages and retails for $85? A collaboration by artist/photographer/filmmaker Jeff Scott and Chef Blake Beshore, the book gives an inside look at the kitchens and lives of chefs Sean Brock (Husk and McCrady's, Charleston, S.C.), George Mendes (Aldea, NYC), Johnny Iuzzini (Jean Georges, NYC), Jason Neroni (Osteria La Buca, Los Angeles), Emma Hearst (Sorella, NYC), Joel Harrington (Stephen Pyles, Dallas), Neal Fraser (Grace, Los Angeles), Matt Gaudet (Aquitaine, Boston), Michael Laiskonis (Le Bernardin, NYC) and Zak Pelaccio (Fatty Cue and Fatty Crab, NYC).

Chef Sean Brock writes in the book's introduction, "This is the book that will change the way we perceive the idea of what a modern cookbook is and can be." See if you agree -- check out the slideshow below of some of the book's pages.
