Weekend Plans: Spinal Tap, Crafts And The Temple Of Boobs

Chicago, we know you're weary. All week you've been shelling out bones to buy your dog a license, trying to cope, somehow, with your faulty iPhones, and being berated by your representatives. If you've ever needed a weekend of distraction, it may be this one. Luckily, the city's turned out a slew of activities to keep your mind off the whopping Metra ticket you might have to buy on Monday.

Celebrate the vibrant culture of Ireland and the creative work it inspires with a two-day gathering of artists, authors and musicians from around the world at iBam! Sip a cup of tea or treat yourself to a pint as you weave through panel discussions, author and poetry readings, cooking demonstrations, live music, films, theater, workshops and more. Navy Pier Goes To Eleven

Friday's date, 11/11/11, isn't only for Veterans and wish-making; the triple numerals also welcome a celebration of the film that made the digit after 10 famous, "This Is Spinal Tap." In honor of the holiday, Navy Pier will "Go To Eleven," celebrating the mockumentary all day with free Ferris wheel rides, a screening of the mockumentary, and extended hours until, of course, 11 p.m. Parking is $11, with discounts for military personnel.

Temple Of Boobs: An Indiana Jones Burlesque
We're willing to bet there's some overlap between fans of Indiana Jones and people who like boobs. Indulge both interests with a burlesque show paying homage to the world's coolest archaeologist. A sacred statue--and the reputation of a dishonored village goddess--is at stake, sending the all-female cast on a hilarious and scintillating adventure.

Found Footage Fest
Long before the internet became the place where embarrassing footage was uncovered, Found magazine was collecting lost movies, photographs, lists and notes from garage sales and trash cans nationwide. Comedians Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher of the Found Footage Festival and Peter and Davy Rothbart of "Found" magazine are hosting a showcase of the quirky, funny and bizarre discovered films that will make you double check where you last left the home movies.

Join in a scholarly discussion of "Brokeback Mountain," one of Hollywood's highest-grossing romance films that explored a complex series of sexual relationships centered on two men in the American West between 1963 and 1983. The film will be screened, followed by a panel discussion including Jean de St. Aubin, Executive Director of the Gene Siskel Film Center and Dr. Chris Chulos, Chair of the History Department at Roosevelt University. The panel will be followed by a staged reading of essays, poetry and music inspired by the film.
