Daniel Paille Injury: Bruins Forward Takes Puck To Face From Islanders' Steve Staios Slap Shot (VIDEO)

A scary moment occurred in the third period of Monday night's game between the Bruins and Islanders. As New York's Steve Staios lined up for a slap shot just in front of the blue line, Boston forward Daniel Paille got in front of him to try to block it. Unfortunately, the puck nailed Paille directly in the face and the six-year veteran immediately fell down.

The Bruins staff jumped onto the ice right away to attend to Paille, who was covering his face while lying on the ground by his team's bench. Less than a minute later, Paille was helped up by a trainer holding a towel over his face. As he got back to his feet and the Boston crowd cheered, teammate Zdeno Chara helped took his mask off, which had blood all over it.

He was examined by a specialist after the game and more information will be revealed later on Tuesday.

Bruins forward Milan Lucic told Joe McDonald of ESPNBoston.com that the team saw him before he got an X-ray and "it was good to see him walking around and fine after that."
