Tim Pontius Goal: UCSB Soccer Player Scores Amazing Goal From 61 Yards Out (VIDEO)

WATCH: College Soccer Player Scores Amazing Goal From 61 Yards Out

Note to goalkeepers in the Big West conference: Stay on guard while playing against UC Santa Barbara.

On Wednesday night, UC Davis goalkeeper Omar Zeenni learned this lesson the hard way when he wandered a little too far from his line and UC Santa Barbara defender Tim Pontius took notice. Pontius wound up and launched a shot that landed perfectly past Zeenni, who could only watch as the ball bounced into the net. The goal was Pontius' second of the game and secured a 3-1 victory for one of our favorite mascots in all of college sports -- the UCSB Gauchos.

The impressive strike adds to the already extensive list of long-range goals that have occurred in the soccer world during the past few months. Earlier this month Andres Guardado netted an amazing goal from midfield for Deportivo De La Caruna. And in June, Canadian goalkeeper Quinlan Roberts scored from his own end against England in the under-17 World Cup.

According to the Washington Post, Tim Pontius is the younger brother of DC United defender Chis Pontius, who recently made appearances for the US Men's National team in friendly matches against Costa Rica and Belgium. Tim may have big shoes to fill in order to live up to the promise of his big brother, but if he keeps having games like this, DC United may have another Pontius to add to their back line.
