Suspected 'Satanic Ritual' Leaves Two Teens Burnt, 1 In Coma After Girls Were Set On Fire In South Africa

Two Teens Tied, Set Alight During 'Satanic Ritual'

Two teens were set on fire during what appears to have been "Satanic Ritual" in Johannesburg, South Africa on Friday.

Kirsty Theologo, 18, received severe burns to her upper body and suffered lung and throat damage. Theologo is currently in a coma and was set to undergo surgery Monday, the Star reports.

Her friend, a 16-year-old girl, suffered burns after reportedly trying to help Theologo escape from the fire, according to iAfrica. She received skin graft surgery on Monday.

A group of eight teens, including the victims, met on a hill overlooking parts of the city on Friday night. The spot was reportedly a common meeting place where teens would go to drink.

Reports state that Theologo and her friend were tied up, doused with petrol, and set on fire as a "sacrifice," iAfrica reports. Theologo's hand was also reportedly cut and placed over a Bible so that "blood could soak it," according to the Star. The 16-year-old was able to roll her friend in the sand to put out the flames.

The teens were left to burn, after the group ran away, but the girls managed to break free and walk 10 blocks home in their conditions.

"My sister had no skin left on her face, she had wounds to her head and and her nose had been crushed in," Theologo's sister, Samantha Saunders, told Eye Witness News.

The 16-year-old victim was able to name some of the persons in the group, according to Eye Witness News.

An attempted murder case was opened, and two males turned themselves into police on Sunday, the Star reports. Officials are still investigating the matter.
