Vivian Greentree

Navy veteran and spouse; Head of Military and Veterans Affairs, First Data Corp.

Vivian Greentree is a Senior Vice President and Head of Military and Veteran Affairs at First Data Corporation. Before joining First Data, Vivian helped to found Blue Star Families, the largest chapter-based military support organization in the country, where she most recently served Director of Research and Policy.

While at BSF, Vivian created and oversaw BSF’s Military Family Lifestyle Survey, which examines a broad spectrum of issues affecting modern-day military families. Vivian also created “Making Volunteerism Work For You!” a resume skills translator for military spouses. The skills translator evolved into the Blue Star Spouse Employment Toolkit, a comprehensive career guide, developed exclusively for military spouses, which targets and addresses the unique employment challenges military spouses face.

Vivian served as a Supply Corps officer in the Navy. After serving in the Navy, she used her G.I. Bill to attain her Ph.D. in Public Administration and Urban Policy. Vivian’s research on civic engagement, the military community, and public policy has been published in peer-reviewed journals like Public Administration Review and the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, along with mainstream media outlets. She has appeared as a subject matter expert on panels, advisory boards, conferences, and national media outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, and NPR. She is a Senior Research Fellow of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University and is the Chair of Blue Star Families’ Research Advisory Council.
