Valerie received her law degree from NYU School of Law where she was a Root-Tilden-Kern Public Interest Scholar and an Institute for International Law and Justice Scholar. From 2008-2009 she was a Fulbright Scholar in Spain where she taught in a bilingual public school and researched refugee rights. From 2006-2008 she served in the Peace Corps in Panama where she worked with a microfinance cooperative and Peace Corps' Gender and Development committee (GAD).
