Timothy Greenfield-Sanders
Photographer and filmmaker
Timothy Greenfield-Sanders is a photographer and filmmaker. He received a B.A. in Art History from Columbia University and a M.A. in film from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.
Seven hundred of his art world portraits are in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. His images are in numerous other museums, including The Brooklyn Museum, The Metropolitan Museum, The Whitney Museum and The National Portrait Gallery.
Greenfield-Sanders' first film, "Lou Reed: Rock and Roll Heart", won a 1998 Grammy Award for best music documentary. For HBO he produced and directed, Thinking XXX", "The Black List: Volumes 1, 2, & 3", "The Latino List: Volumes 1 & 2, and "About Face: Supermodels Then and Now". In 2009, "The Black List: Volume 1" won a NAACP Spirit Award for best documentary and in 2012, "About Face" won a WIN Award.
Timothy Greenfield-Sanders has published many books of portraiture including "XXX: 30 Porn-Star Portraits" (Bulfinch Press), "Face to Face" (Skira) and "The Black List" (Simon and Schuster).
Greenfield-Sanders is a contributing photographer to Vanity Fair. He lives in New York.
