Jesuit priest, professor of history; from August 1, 2017, president of Regis College, Toronto

Thomas Worcester, S.J., Ph.D. (Cambridge) begins a five-year term in summer 2017 as president of Regis College (Toronto), the Jesuit faculty of theology in Canada. He is a specialist in the religion and culture of early modern France and Italy. Author of Seventeenth-Century Cultural Discourse: France and the Preaching of Bishop Camus, he has published articles in journals such as French Colonial History, Renaissance Quarterly, and Sixteenth Century Journal. Editor of The Cambridge Companion to the Jesuits, and co-editor of The Papacy since 1500: From Italian Prince to Universal Pastor, he is the general editor of The Cambridge Encyclopedia of the Jesuits, forthcoming from Cambridge University Press.
