Taylor Chace

Paralympic hockey player, coach

Born in 1986, Taylor Chace grew up playing hockey until, at 16, he took a hard hit during a game that spun him and crashed him into the boards causing a incomplete spinal cord injury and partial paralysis of Taylor's legs. As he worked to walk again, he thought his days of sports were over until he learned about adaptive sports. Four years after the accident, he joined the U.S. National Sled Hockey team, helping win bronze at the Winter Paralympic Games in 2006 and gold in 2010. Today, Taylor coaches younger players where his goal is to show kids with disabilities that they can play -- and win. The team is profiled in the new PBS documentary ICE WARRIORS: USA Sled Hockey.
