Susan Shepherd, M.D.

Pediatrician, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

Susan Shepherd is a general pediatrician who spent the first part of her career in rural Montana. In 2003 she began taking assignments as a field doctor with Médecins sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders on projects in Uganda, Chad and Niger. Dr. Shepherd has focused her humanitarian field-work on caring for malnourished children. In addition to field work, Dr. Shepherd has worked for MSF’s Access Campaign to Essential Medicines and subsequently coordinated the Nutrition Working Group through MSF’s International Office. Currently, Dr. Shepherd holds a position in nutrition operations with the MSF France group in Paris. In addition to field work with MSF, Dr Shepherd has worked in Ghana at the Princess Marie-Louise Children’s Hospital, Accra. Dr Shepherd received a Bachelor of Arts in biology at Lawrence University in Wisconsin and did her medical studies at the Free University in Brussels, Belgium. She completed a pediatric residency at the University of Chicago.
