Rev. Dr. Stephanie Buckhanon Crowder is a teacher, author, and noted speaker. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree summa cum laude in Speech Pathology/Audiology from Howard University; a Master of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary, and Master of Arts and Ph.D. degrees in Religion from Vanderbilt University. Stephanie frequently writes on issues related to Bible in the public square and religion and pop culture. She was on the Editorial Boards of Feasting on the Gospels, a lectionary commentary, and ON Scripture (Odyssey Network). She has contributed to numerous publications including Soundings in Cultural Criticism: Perspectives on Power and Identity, True to Our Native Land: An African American New Testament Commentary, and Matthew: Texts@Contexts. Her work on R and B music and the New Testament can be found in Afrocentric Interpretations of Jesus and the Gospels (Mellen Press, 2015). Stephanie's latest book is When Momma Speaks: The Bible and Motherhood from a Womanist Perspective (Westminster/John Knox Press). Stephanie is married and a proud #womanistmomma.
