Sridhar Kota

Herrick Professor of Engineering at the University of Michigan, Director of MForesight: Alliance for Manufacturing Foresight

Dr. Sridhar Kota is the Herrick Professor of Engineering at the University of Michigan and Director of MForesight: Alliance for Manufacturing Foresight. MForesight is a federally-funded, independent think-and-do-tank that serves as the voice of the national advanced manufacturing community and provides industry and government with information about emerging technologies, workforce training, and opportunities for public-private partnerships. Between 2009-2012 Kota served as the Assistant Director for Advanced Manufacturing at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. In this role, he developed policy recommendations and implementation strategies to enhance U.S. manufacturing competitiveness, and to foster innovation-based manufacturing of emerging technologies. He played an instrumental role in launching several initiatives including National Manufacturing Innovation Institutes (now Manufacturing USA), National Robotics Initiative and National Digital Engineering and Manufacturing. Kota is the founder & CEO of FlexSys Inc. specializing in shape morphing aircraft wings and bio-inspired products.
