Sasa Milosevic

I started my career just a few months before the beginning of the Balkan Civil Wars in 1990 and since the first moment I've preferred to work as an independent contributor for local and international media. Independent writing was the most suitable way to respond to my professional duties due to restrictive journalism and limits of free speech during war and post-war circumstances as well as nowadays in atmosphere of corruption and media censorship My education in dentistry with additional training in forensic dentistry contributed to my diverse interests and knowledge. It additionally makes me very familiar with media topics in the area of human rights, war crimes, forensic, medicine and environmental issues. I'm a founding member of the International Association of Religion Journalists (IARJ) with a focus on religious issues in the Balkans and Easter European region. During my professional career, a special emphasis has been participating in international media projects with my international colleagues from USA, Israel, Egypt, and Lebanon with focus on covering religious and migration issues. In collaboration with my colleagues from Egypt, we launched the HijabSkirt Project, as a cross-cultural online platform. The project was awarded by the UN Alliance of Civilization (UNAOC) and International Center for Journalist (ICFJ) in Rio de Janeiro in 2010 during the Third Forum of UNAOC. The significant part of my international career is linked to the International Center for Journalist (ICFJ) in Washington which fosters the development of my professional journalism training through a series of conferences and professional online courses.
