PhD candidate at Northwestern University
Robin Hoecker is a Ph.D. candidate in Media, Technology and Society at Northwestern University. Her research looks at the sociology of news production, in particular the social construction of race, crime and the news. Her dissertation looks at how crime is reported in African American and Hispanic newspapers. She has an M.A. in journalism from the University of Missouri, and has worked as a reporter/photographer and web editor at the Stars and Stripes newspaper in Germany and Washington D.C.
