Rep. George Miller

Rep. George Miller (CA-11) is the senior Democratic member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee.

Congressman George Miller is a leading spokesman in Congress on education, labor, the economy, and the environment and has represented the East Bay Area of California since 1975. Miller plays a key leadership role in the House of Representatives to develop policy, strategy and communications on a wide range of issues.

Miller was chair of the House Education and Labor Committee from 2007 through 2010 and now as the senior Democrat on the renamed Education and Workforce Committee. He also serves as a member of the Democratic Steering Policy Committee for policy matters, an appointment made by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. In both roles he develops and promotes public policies that will grow and strengthen America’s middle class. Miller also has a distinguished record on environmental protection and conservation issues, having served as chair of the House Natural Resources Committee from 1991 to 1994 and as its senior Democrat from 1995 through 2000.
