Rebecca Fannin

Rebecca A. Fannin is an international business journalist and author of two influential books, Silicon Dragon: (McGraw-Hill, 2008) and Startup Asia: (John Wiley & Sons, 2011).
With 20 years experience covering global business, innovation and entrepreneurship, in 2009, Ms. Fannin founded news, events and consulting group Silicon Dragon Ventures, www.silicondragonventures.com.
A contributor to Forbes for three years, Rebecca previously was international news editor at Red Herring (1999-2002), international editor at Incisive Media in Hong Kong (2003-2009), deputy editor at Advertising Age International (1996-1999) and editor of the Pulitzer-owned International Business (1990-1995). Her work has appeared in Chief Executive magazine, Inc., Wired, The Deal, Worth, Asia Inc. and Time Inc.’s AsiaWeek.
She has written several thought leadership papers for KPMG and Econsultancy on key technology and digital media trends. In 2010, she testified on Capitol Hill about censorship on the Internet in China.
Rebecca began her career as a copy editor at the Dayton Journal Herald, as a Dow Jones intern. She is a graduate of the Ohio University Scripps School of Journalism and a recipient of an Asian studies fellowship.
Combining her love for travel and passion for reporting and writing, Rebecca has been on assignment in many of the world’s capitals. She is a frequent moderator, panelist and presenter and industry events in Asia, Europe and the U.S.
Ms. Fannin is a member of the Overseas Press Club in New York, the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in Hong Kong, and the World Affairs Council in San Francisco.
Ms. Fannin grew up in the small U.S. town of Lancaster, Ohio, where her father was an Ohio University professor of history and her mother a kindergarten teacher. Today Ms. Fannin resides in New York City and San Francisco, and travels frequently to Asia. Her website is www.rebeccafannin.com.
