Polynesian Voyaging Society

The Polynesian Voyaging Society embarked on a 47,000-mile voyage around the world.

The Polynesian Voyaging Society preserves and strengthens the traditions, values and knowledge behind one of the greatest feats in history. Thousands of years ago, Polynesians found and settled islands scattered over 10 million square miles of ocean, exploring unchartered waters by using only stars, waves, marine birds and other signs of nature to guide them. Our new generation of crew members are now on a 47,000-mile voyage around the world to find hopeful solutions for our oceans and our Island Earth.
