The Everlasting Phil Ramone and Danielle Evin

Producer extraordinaire (Ramone) and acclaimed singer-songwriter (Evin)

Producer extraordinaire Phil Ramone and acclaimed singer-songwriter Danielle Evin began working together in 2006. Ramone was one of the most respected and prolific music producers, earning 14 Grammy Awards, an Emmy, and copious accolades and honors, as well as pioneering many of the recording industry’s technological advances. His remarkably diverse production credits include Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Barbra Streisand, Quincy Jones, Dusty Springfield, Burt Bacharach, Bob Dylan, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Tony Bennett, The Band, Dionne Warwick, B.B. King, Madonna, Liza Minnelli, Luciano Pavarotti, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Bono, Amy Winehouse and Paul Simon.

Ramone’s memoir, Making Records, documents his fingerprints on decades of music making. Ramone ardently supported the use of compact disc, DVD, hi-definition recording, and surround sound. The first CD ever pressed was the Ramone-produced 52nd Street, by Billy Joel, as was the first surround sound DVD release, Dave Grusin Presents West Side Story. A violin prodigy, Ramone was also a multi-dimensional music master of film, Broadway, and television. He was extremely active in a number of organizations, sitting as Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), Co-Chairman of the NARAS Producers and Engineers Wing, and a Trustee of the MusiCares Foundation and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The META 7 (Music, Engineering & Technology Alliance) co-founder was a fierce champion of music education, serving on the boards of the National Mentoring Partnership and the Berklee College of Music, and was a member of the National Recording Preservation Board of the Library of Congress. In 2011, he established the Salvation Army Phil Ramone Orchestra for Children.

Evin recorded her critically praised, self-titled debut album with Grammy-winning producer Jack Douglas, and is set to release her new album co-produced with Ramone later this year on Vapor Records. She has performed extensively on tour and television. Evin’s comprehensive knowledge of music found the perfect complement in Ramone’s, and her passion for it continues to honor his memory. Together, the pair have created an invaluable music resource in Dog Ears Music.
