Pete Bils, Sleep Geek Pete

Vice President of Sleep Science & Research at Sleep Number

Since joining Sleep Number® in 1996, Pete Bils has been responsible for exploring the vital relationship between sleep and health. Pete continually investigates the use of new technologies to promote better sleep, such as computerized pressure mapping to demonstrate the effects of various sleep surfaces on the human body.

Pete has shared his expertise gained from nearly 20 years of sleep research with national and local media outlets, including HuffingtonPost Live, Fox & Friends, SHAPE, All You, The Doctors, Parents TV, New York Times Magazine, CNBC and Bloomberg News, among others.

Pete is the Immediate Past Chair of the Better Sleep Council, an organization devoted to educating people about the critical relationship between sleep, good health and quality of life. In addition, he is a member of the National Sleep Foundation and belongs to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Pete, his wife and daughters—and even his dog—all sleep on Sleep Number® beds. In his spare time, Pete embodies one of Sleep Number’s core beliefs … that sleep, diet and exercise are three important components of a healthy lifestyle. Pete is an avid runner and has participated in numerous marathons. He also loves to cook healthy Italian food for his family.
