Nancy Talanian founded No More Guantanamos in 2009 to support President Barack Obama's stated goal of closing Guantanamo through public education and dialogue. The organization has also supported communities around the country That were willing to pass local resolutions welcoming cleared Guantanamo detainees. Talanian was the cofounder and founding executive director of the Bill of Rights Defense Committee (www.bordc.org) from 2002 through 2008.
