Programme manager, United Nations Mine Action Service

Max Dyck is Programme Manager of the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) office in Libya. One of the first UN staff on the ground following the outbreak of fighting in February 2011, Mr. Dyck led the international effort to mitigate the threat of conventional explosive weapons both during and in the aftermath of the revolution in Libya. Mr. Dyck has worked on the clearance of landmines and unexploded ordnance for over 15 years, most recently with the United Nations in Cyprus, and with clearance organizations in 20 other countries around the world Mr. Dyck is an avid sportsman having represented Zimbabwe at rugby as well as being a seasoned endurance runner with several ultra-marathons to his name.
