Mary Ellen Harte and John Harte

Biologists

Prof. John Harte of the University of California at Berkeley has won numerous awards and honors as an ecologist and an established environmental scientist and author. He and his work have been featured in Mother Jones, National Wildlife Magazine and other publications, as well as on the Bill Moyer's show, NPR's Marketplace, Science Friday, and elsewhere. His most recent award was a George Polk prize in journalism in 2006 for his work on the Early Signs Project. With his wife Mel he has authored a new book, “Cool the Earth, Save the Economy: Solving the Climate Crisis is EASY” available as a free downloadable pdf at www.CoolTheEarth.US .

Mary Ellen (Mel) Harte Ph. D. is a biologist who has worked with him on various environmental projects. She produces the weekday "Climate Change Report", 90-second audio newscasts, updated weekly, on the consequences of and solutions to climate change at www.CoolTheEarth.US/climate-report.php . She also produces the natural history radio show “Nature Notes” during the summer in the Colorado Rockies.
