Marie Clarke is ActionAid USA’s Executive Director and joined ActionAid in 2010. Prior to this, she was the Deputy Director of Africa Action, the oldest human rights organization in the U.S. focused exclusively on Africa. She was previously the Executive Director of the Jubilee USA Network, an organization of 50 religious denominations, development and human rights organizations seeking the cancellation of impoverished country debt. Marie has been quoted on issues of international economic justice in the Financial Times, the Washington Post, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and other publications and has appeared on CNN International, BBC, Voice of America and other news networks. She currently serves as the Northern Civil Society Representative to the Steering Committee of the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP), a multi-lateral funding mechanism that has allocated over $1 Billion in agricultural investments. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Pax Christi Fund for Peace, an organization that promotes peace and reconciliation, freedom and respect for human rights.
