Mandy Moore

American singer-songwriter and actress Amanda Leigh “Mandy” Moore recently joined PSI as an Ambassador for its Five & Alive program, which provides children and their families with the education, products, services and care needed to improve their health and save lives in more than thirty countries around the world.

On her first trip with PSI Moore helped launch a mass distribution of three million insecticide-treated mosquito nets to children suffering from malaria and other diseases in Southern Sudan. The initiative, which was undertaken in partnership with the Southern Sudanese Ministry of Health and with funding from the Global Fund, will ensure that millions of critically ill patients, pregnant women and newborn babies are protected from the deadly disease.

Moore has been a fixture in the pop music and filmmaking industry since the late 1990s, having sold over eight million albums worldwide. In 2002 Moore won the MTV Movie Award for her performance in “A Walk to Remember” and had four songs on the soundtrack which went on to sell over four million albums. In addition to other critically acclaimed performances in box office hits such as “Saved,” “American Dreamz” and the more recent “Dedication,” Moore joined HBO’s hit series “Entourage” in 2005 for an arc appearance. Moore’s most recent project, her album entitled “Amanda Leigh,” is a departure from her earlier work with a more sophisticated sound. The album has already received glowing reviews and has been called “an impeccably recorded album of mature songs” by TIME Magazine.

In addition to her work with PSI, Moore continues a wide range of philanthropic efforts including her commitment to the Stand up to Cancer campaign and her ongoing involvement with Trinity Kid’s Care.
