Layla Demay

French journalist, author and documentary film director

Layla Demay is a French journalist, author and documentary film director.

She is the co-creator of the travel city guide series Les Pintades published by Hachette Group imprint Calmann-Lévy. She is the co-host of the TV series Les Pintades, aired on Canal Plus.

Demay produced and directed investigative documentaries about wide range of US current events including women in the Ku Klux Klan, fundamentalist polygamist Mormons in Utah, the Amish or the failed war on drugs in the US.

She received a Master’s degree in French literature from La Sorbonne University in Paris as well as a Master’s degree in Journalism and Communication from Institut Français de Presse in Paris.

The longtime correspondent was a guest speaker at the Shadow Convention in Philadelphia, where her documentary War Zone was featured. She is a regular guest contributor for French and European TV channels.

She currently serves on Manhattan Community Board 5. She chairs the Education, Housing and Human Services Committee.

She lives in Manhattan with her husband and 2 kids.
