Clean water advocate and Executive Director of Santa Barbara Channelkeeper

Kira Redmond has served as the Executive Director and Waterkeeper of Santa Barbara Channelkeeper since 2004. Santa Barbara Channelkeeper is a grassroots non-profit organization that work to protect and restore the Santa Barbara Channel and its watersheds, and is a member of the international Waterkeeper Alliance and California Coastkeeper Alliance. Under her leadership, Channelkeeper has succeeded in securing significant policy reforms and enforcement of environmental laws that have served to improve water quality and habitat health in one of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems on earth. Kira holds a Masters in International Affairs and Environmental Policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Resource Management from the University of California Berkeley.
