KidSpirit

Free teen magazine

KidSpirit Online is a free teen magazine and website that empowers youth everywhere to tackle life’s big questions. Its mission is to provide a forum for teens to dialogue about questions of meaning in a safe and moderated online community. Teens share original artwork, essays, and poetry, and weigh in about their communities in the Global Beat column. KidSpirit supports the development of youth into world citizens with strong inner grounding. While KidSpirit is an unaffiliated organization, contributors run the gamut of all faith and wisdom traditions. Themes are chosen and submissions edited monthly by an all-youth Editorial Board. KidSpirit has established Satellite Editorial Boards in seven locations in the U.S. and abroad. KidSpirit is a three-time Wilbur Award winner: in 2015 and 2012 in the Youth Books category for its compilation volumes, and in 2014 for its Interfaith Connections column. It is also the only youth publication to win a first-place Religion News Association Award for Magazine Overall Excellence (2016). In 2014, the magazine earned an honorable mention for its Interfaith Connections column from the RNA, and in 2012, it won second place for Religion Story Layout and Design of the Year. KidSpirit is a two-time Parents' Choice Award winner, garnering recognition in both 2012 and 2013. It has been honored by the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) as a finalist for the Distinguished Achievement Awards and the Golden Lamp Award. The magazine is a Gold Award winner from Mom’s Choice Awards and the National Parenting Publication Awards (NAPPA). KidSpirit participated in the 2015 Parliament of the World’s Religions, held in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jerome Socolovsky, former Senior Religion Reporter for Voice of America, profiled KidSpirit in 2014. Teachers and youth workers are encouraged to visit KidSpirit to find free teaching resources, and to submit their students’ work to this unique publication. In addition to its website, KidSpirit has published four compilation volumes. More information can be found at kidspiritonline.com, or by emailing info@kidspiritonline.com.
