Kevin McDermott

I am the founder of Collective Intelligence, a strategic communications firm.

Kevin McDermott is the founder of Collective Intelligence, which develops thought-leadership strategies for organizations determined to define their brand in markets they aspire to own. From the beginnings of Collective Intelligence McDermott has pursued genuinely strategic communications for clients—thought leadership with a point on it . The value comes in the clarification of new commercial ideas, convincing publishing programs and clear market positioning. The work of telling the growth story becomes the work of defining strategy and testing its credibility. Before the launch of Collective Intelligence McDermott worked as a journalist and later as a managing editor—work he now regards as profoundly important to recognizing patterns among seemingly unrelated ideas and for expressing insight in lively, concrete ways. Entrepreneurial projects include reporting for The Atlantic Monthly in Haiti, The New York Times in Britain, and The Washington Post and Saveur in France. He made a specialty of international business and finance reporting for such publications as Business Week, The Economist and Business International, now part of the Economist Intelligence Unit.
